The Levee Ready Columbia Communications Subcommittee meets monthly to provide strategic advice to LRC staff on issues related to communications, community outreach, public engagement, and public affairs. The Communications Subcommittee has developed a wide array of print and digital communications materials and coordinated projects to increase awareness of the risk of flooding along the Columbia River in the Portland metro region. For questions, please contact Evyn Mitchell at emitchell@mcdd.org.
The Levee Ready Columbia Technical Advisory Committee (TASC) meets monthly to discuss, review, and advise on technical issues related to LRC's objectives and projects. The members of the TASC supported the completion of the geotechnical investigation of the entire 27-mile levee system, including the coordination of drilling hundreds of holes into the levees to test their stability. Up next the TASC will be identifying a set of alternative solutions to address seven deficiencies identified within the levee system that must be remedied in order to preserve accreditation through FEMA. If you have questions about the TASC, or are interested in participating, please contact Julia Babcock a jjb@pdx.edu.

Borrow a boat, bring your own, or sort out trash on land. With your help, the Slough gets cleaner each year! Clearing garbage and debris from the Slough helps to keep water moving through our conveyance systems. This helps to reduce flood-risk for critical habitat, adjacent communities, and visitors. Interested participants will have the opportunity to tour a section of our 27-mile levee system that helps protect people, property and the environment from flooding along the Lower Columbia River. Boats, gloves, tools, and Slough mud provided.
